Psalm 29 describes the power of the voice of the Lord God. In verse 10 of the Psalm, our Lord is called, "King forever." As the King, His Word is powerful!
Ecclesiastes 8:4 Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
I want you to understand this morning that there is power in the Word of God. The Bible is not MAN'S book; it is GOD'S Book! As such, it has power like no other book in the world!
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
This morning I want to declare just a few ways that we can see the power of the King's Word.
I. The King's Word Is Powerful To Deliver
A. The King's word delivers from poverty
1. When I trusted Christ, I came to Him as a helpless, hopeless, BANKRUPT sinner!
2. I had nothing of lasting value…
3. But now, I have a home in eternity!
4. The Bible tells us that we are saved by Grace through Faith
5. The moment I placed my faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, I was born again!
6. Born into the family of God!
7. G.R.A.C.E. - God's riches at Christ's expense!
8. Now I'm a child of the King, and He will provide everything I need!
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
B. The King's word delivers from prison
Genesis 41:14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
Psalms 105:20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.
1. King Pharaoh sent word, and Joseph was released from prison.
2. I was held captive by Satan, but King JESUS sent His word and set me FREE!
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
3. Not because I deserved to be set free, but because I believed in His Word of deliverance.
4. You can be set free this morning…the Word of the King will deliver you immediately!
5. Trust Him today!
C. The King's word delivers from punishment
1. We are saved by the GRACE of God.
2. GRACE is God giving us something GOOD that we do NOT deserve!
3. We are saved FROM HELL by the MERCY of God.
4. MERCY is God withholding from us something BAD that we DO deserve!
5. Thank God for the Word of His MERCY!
Ps 119:41 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
II. The King's Word Is Powerful To Direct
Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
A. The King's word directs our beliefs
1. We are Bible Baptists…
2. That simply means that our focus is upon the Word of God.
3. It does make a difference what we believe, and the Word of the King will direct us in every area of our lives.
Pr 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
B. The King's word directs our behavior
1. How should we behave toward others?
2. How should we behave toward our government?
3. How should we behave toward our family?
4. All of these and more are answered for us in the Word of God.
5. Paul's instruction to Timothy cannot be improved upon.
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
6. The King's Word tells us what is right, what is wrong, how to make it right, and how to keep it right.
III. The King's Word Is Powerful To Destroy
A. Everything that exists was created by His Word.
1. "In the beginning God created…And God said…"
2. God spoke and it was so.
3. John repeats that truth for us.
Re 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
4. Paul tells us that it is by His Word that everything is held together.
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
5. Consist = held together
B. One day He will speak and it will be destroyed.
2Pe 3:10b "…the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."
1. All that we know of this creation will pass away…destroyed by the same Word that created it.
2. The enemies of God and all that is righteous will also be destroyed by His Word.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Re 19:21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
3. The same Word that created…the same Word that prayed, 'Father forgive them' …will one day condemn all who reject Him to an eternal hell.
Mt 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
The Word of the King is powerful to Deliver, Direct, and Destroy.
Do you know Christ as your Savior this morning? If not, I encourage you to come. Christian, does His Word have its proper place in our lives? Come now.
