(Genesis 2:4) These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD [Jehovah] God made the earth and the heavens,
Jehovah occurs in the Bible 6,823 times and is the most frequently used of the names of God. Jehovah comes from the verb "havah" = to be. Jehovah means "One who is what He is."
In our KJV Bible the name is always shown in capital letters [LORD] to distinguish it from another name, Adoni which is shown as [Lord].
(Exodus 3:15) And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD [Jehovah] God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
He is absolutely self-existent, the One who in Himself possesses essential life, and permanent existence. Elohim may be used to refer to the true or false gods. Jehovah is never referred to in relation to false gods for He is the one true God. Elohim is the general name of God concerned with creation and preservation. Jehovah is the God of revelation in the expression of Himself in His moral and spiritual attributes.

(Exodus 6:2-3) And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
E. It is to Jehovah that the Jews look to reveal Himself -- the TRUTH or the revealing One.
II. Jehovah = The Holy One
(Isaiah 6:3) And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
A. Enoch walked with Elohim, but not with Jehovah. - Ge 5:24 B. Jehovah God is Holy.
(Matthew 6:9) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
III. Jehovah = The Righteousness
(Psalms 11:7) For the righteous LORD [Jehovah] loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
(Daniel 9:14) Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD [Jehovah] our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
A. It is this righteousness of Jehovah against which man sins.
(Psalms 95:10) Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
B. Since Jehovah is righteous, He demands righteousness and justice and holiness from man who is created in His image.
(Leviticus 19:2) Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

(Isaiah 53:6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD [Jehovah] hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
D. Note the Description of Jesus:
1. He is the Truth.
(John 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
2. He is the Holy One of God.
(Mark 1:24) Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

(John 14:9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Tonight we have seen how God has revealed Himself to us through the name
Jehovah. He is the truth revealing God, He is the Holy One, He is the Righteous
One, and He has manifested Himself to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
He wants us to know Him. He desires a relationship with us. And He has
made that possible for all. Do you know Him tonight?
