We all enjoy receiving invitations, whether it is an invitation to a wedding, a party, dinner, or just for a visit. It means that the one who does the inviting cares about us. Today I want to talk about some of the invitations that God has given. He does care about us!
I. Come to a Place of Safety. Genesis 7:1
A. Noah was invited to come into the Ark.
B. The Ark was a type of Christ...it was the only means of salvation from impending judgment.
C. The Ark was large enough to accomodate all that came in, but it had only one door.
D. Jesus said, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved..." Jn. 10:9
E. God invites us to come to a place of safety today...come to Jesus Christ.
II. Come for Personal Cleansing. Is. 1:18
A. The cleansing is necessary for we are all stained with sin.
B. Nothing that we can do will remove that stain...only the blood of Jesus Christ!
C. "...The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." cf 1Jn. 1:7 (2)
D. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." cf 1Jn. 1:9
III. Come and Find Satisfaction. Is. 55:1-2
A. The world promises what it cannot deliver!
B. Only Jesus can satisfy the longing in the heart of man.
C. And the invitation is for all to come.
IV. Come and Find Rest. Mt. 11:28-30
A. Christ will lift the burden of sin from us and He will give us rest.
B. Coming to Christ will mean that we find:
1. A Place of Safety
2. Personal Cleansing
3. Rest and Satisfaction for our souls.
