The Whole Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18

• Attributes of a Good Soldier
• v14 "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth…"

1. Area of attack = Loins (our enemy fights dirty)

2. Armor - Truth that is held tightly

• "…and having on the breastplate of righteousness…"

1. Area of attack = the heart is easily damaged

2. Armor - Righteous = doing right

3. Our heart needs to be fixed upon Him at all times.

• v15 "And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;"

1. Area of Attack = Feet - We get tripped up in our daily walk.

2. Armor - the Gospel that supports our weakness

3. Proper support is needed to walk for the Lord.

• v16 "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."
• The fiery darts of the wicked

a. "That burns me up!"

b. "I'm burned out."

c. " … hot under the collar."

• v17, "And take the helmet of salvation…"

1. Area of Attack = the head

2. This is the most vulnerable area

3. Armor - Helmet of Salvation

4. Assurance of our relationship with Christ protects our minds from the enemy's attacks and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:

• We have only one offensive weapon = our Sword is the Word of God

1. Double edged Layered steel that is surgically sharp.

(Heb 4:12) "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

• v18, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

1. Area of Attack = our brothers and sisters in Christ

2. Armor = Prayer, we are to be on constant watch for the attacks of the enemy.

We are to be good soldiers for Christ, and prepared daily to do battle against our enemy.
